Most of my Garage Tour videos (www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyP1nO7KKOd1eFOnU1dDaRyFELcI9_Up9) make mention that you can have your own garage featured in a video on my channel just by sending a tweet at brandon72mo (couldn't use "@" in this post because of the way freeforums thinks I'm trying to tag myself here) and including #GarageTour.
I wanted to shed a little light on the process. I don't want to discourage anyone from asking for their garages to be featured, but I do want to let you know what it takes.
First, the filming process can take quite a while. I have to spend about a minute per vehicle in your garage for the in-garage shots. Then, we have to take the car to a location outside, preferably somewhere with some decent scenery in the background, and you have to give me access to drive the car. Sitting in the driver's seat is necessary for me to capture the 360 degree shots you see in my video. You only see the take that I actually use in my videos, but I typically do that shot four or five times to make sure I get one really good shot. Once the 360 degree shot is open, you'll need to use the "Vehicle" menu in the Interaction Menu to open the doors, hood, and trunk and start the engine and turn on the headlights. Then I record interior, trunk, and engine shots that take about a minute each. And of course, when filming outside, there's only a certain amount of daylight available each in-game day. I've learned the hard way that cars filmed at night just don't show up very well in a video. Rain can also be a problem. All in, one garage with 10 cars is going to take around two to three hours for me to get all the footage I need. So please be prepared to spend that time waiting.
Second, I don't automatically jump at every tweet I get. I will probably ask to see the garages you want me to record before I agree to feature them on my channel. Why? Well, I'll try to be diplomatic here, but not everyone has good taste in car design. If you feature a lot of gaudy colors or use chrome dollarsign wheels (unless it's to be ironic, i.e., my Pimpvan), I'll probably take take a pass on your garages. I need to see something unique or really well designed before I agree to feature your garage on my channel.
Third, and finally, be prepared to offer some help when I write the script for your garage. That's right, all of my Garage Tour videos feature a script that I write before I record the voiceover. It's hard enough to come up with what to say about my own cars, but when I'm talking about other people's cars, I am going to need some assistance. It's pretty basic stuff, really. I'm looking for stories behind why you chose to buy a car, or why a certain car is your favorite, or why you chose to design a car the way you did. Pretty much I'm looking for any little tidbit I can get to make the video more personal and tailored to your garages.
And that's it. It seems like a lot, and I guess it is. But I try really hard to make sure that everything that goes on my channel is high quality. If I'm going to feature someone else's garages, I am going to work just as hard as I do on my own garage videos to make sure your cars are shown off in the best way possible. If you've read this and you still want your garages featured on my channel, then make sure you send that tweet and use #garagetour
